Germany's care assistant training from 2027

From 1 January 2027, the Pflegefachassistenzgesetz sets one nationwide care assistant training: 18 months full time, with classes at a nursing school, practical training at the employer and a monthly training allowance. It replaces the previous state-level assistant trainings.

Our trainees start this training on 1 August 2027 at the partner clinic. Preparation in Namibia is built around its requirements, above all German at level B2 in all four skills. Graduates who want to continue can move on to the three-year training as Pflegefachfrau or Pflegefachmann, with credit for time already trained. Our Journal explains the new law for employers.

Fair and transparent recruitment

Employers rightly ask how trainees are recruited and who pays for what. This is how we handle it:

Trainees do not pay for their preparation. We cover preparation courses, visa fees and the journey to their accommodation in Germany, funded through the employer's fees. From the first month, trainees receive the clinic's training salary under the collective agreement. What applies during preparation is set out in the training contract, a written agreement with each participant. We are currently applying for the seal „Faire Anwerbung Pflege Deutschland“ (Fair Recruitment Care Germany).
